Lanes 47 and 48 at Rab’s Country Lanes are proving to be quite a pair for female bowlers.
That’s because Melissa Oakes and Kelly Schropp each fired perfect a game on those lanes in consecutive weeks.
“They happened on the same pair of lanes in the same game (the middle game of three)!” said Country proprietor Frank Wilkinson. “Crazy!”
Oakes’ perfect game came Sunday, Dec. 27 in the Donna Zajac Memorial Mixed League. Oakes, who averages 184, fired games of 191, 300 and 168.
Eight days later (Jan. 4, 2021), Schropp, a former St. John Villa High School standout bowler, reached perfection in the Rab’s Scratch Draft League.
One of only nine ladies in the prestigious loop, Schropp fired games of 222, 300 and 247 for a big 769 series. She is currently averaging 210 in the loop.
