Just call Jessica Franzreb a super sub!
That after the southpaw uncorked a career-high 809 series while subbing in the Ray Laursen Memorial Scratch Draft Classic Monday night at Rab’s Country Lanes, which is primarily a men’s loop attracting some of the Island’s finest keglers.
The 24-year-old ripped off stellar games of 278, 264 and 267 en route to her pinfall, which eclipsed her previous high series of 762.
“I’ve been working with someone on tweaking a few of my mechanics with my approach and the way I was releasing the ball was perfect and everything just felt natural,” said Franzreb, who used a Storm Ion Max ball. “There was no signs in practice that I was going to shoot that well but after game 1, I was totally locked in.”
Franzreb, who lives in South Beach and is in the phlebotomy field at different nursing homes, is no stranger to the Island bowling scene as she starred at New Dorp High School some 7-8 years ago, and wound up bowling for a season at New Jersey City University.
Included in her onslaught was 31 strikes in 36 frames. Her series could have been higher, save for the fact that she missed three spares during her three-game set.
